Endings

Yeah, endings. That word can mean some pretty deep stuff, I’ll tell ya. But I probably won’t get into anything like that. When it comes to endings for me, sometimes I just don’t know when to STOP PLAYING. I used to think that because I could play guitar, that the music I make should include as much guitar as possible. I’m finding out that it kind of sucks when I do that. At least to my ears. So, maybe not an ending of the whole song, but at least the end of a riff. If I get something catchy, I need to stick with that. Before even that gets old too at least. There are a thousand ways to end a diddly. And I say diddly because most of the stuff I “produce” can hardly be called songs.

Plenty of people ask me:

“Where are the lyrics?”

I’m not much of a poet, lady. Ain’t nobody got time for that. Not only does my voice only bloom in a handful of distanced keys, but I’m not near as into that. I want to model sounds and make noise. With everything. Trouble is, when do you end one sound to get down on another?
Endings, man.

This is starting to sound like a far-fetched correlation, but hey, I can’t call it.

Maybe I should just end it.

Aggravation

Aggravation for me is usually one step past being annoyed. There are several things that aggravate me; here are some of my faves.

  • When people ask questions, only to answer them themselves.
e.g. “Hey, what are you doing this weekend? Oh. Nice! Well I’m…blahblahblah”

  • Pretty much anything with the Tapout logo
  • When Nicki Minaj sings like a fool
  • When trash liners break
  • When I leave an effect pedal plugged in and my expensive 9v battery silently withers away
AGGRAVATION.

That’s kind of just a top five. In no particular order, I might add. Other things that aggravate me, (although I’m guilty of it too) are when nobody answers questions in class that everyone knows the answer to. Had to throw in that shout out for our composition class. Yeesh. Anyway, it’s probably good to get a little aggravated now and then. If you’re down with everything, that doesn’t leave much room to move up. Now that I’m remembering I started this blog with a theme of guitar and musicianship, aggravation can be pretty common in everyday practice. Not lately for me, but every now and then there seems to be nothing better to do than get pissed.

“Hey! I used to know this song! Let me just rememb-”  Aaaand it’s gone.

But… I played that song all the time. Guys, I promise!

AGGRAVATION.

So those are a few things that grind my gears. What are some things that get you aggravated? Let me know in a comment so I can get busy pushing your buttons.
